How to delete the duplicate record from table in sql server

This is very simple query that you can easily understand. Follow the step by step.

Here is Employee Table.


CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Employee](
	[EmployeeId] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
	[EmployeeName] [varchar](50) NULL,
	[Salary] [int] NULL,
	[Gender] [varchar](50) NULL,
	[Address] [varchar](250) NULL,
	[RegistrationDate] [datetime] NULL,
 CONSTRAINT [PK_Employee] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED 
(
	[EmployeeId] ASC
)WITH (PAD_INDEX  = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE  = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS  = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS  = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY]

GO

We have some record in this table and there is some record which has duplicate.

 

SQL Script to delete the record which has duplicate in table.

DELETE FROM Employee WHERE EmployeeName IN(
SELECT EmployeeName FROM Employee GROUP BY EmployeeName HAVING COUNT(*)>1)
